So highly anticipated debut album SWEETSEXYSAVAGE dropped a week  ago now. When the name of the album was released via Kehlani’s twitter account. Instantly sending thrills through me due to YOU SHOULD BE HERE (YSBH) definitely my favourite mixtape of all time. Grammy nominated in a genre that does not even fit but whatever. Since the mixtape dropped Kehlani’s has being making waves (pun TSUNAMI) through the industry.

Dropping the album with no features, got me thinking okay J. COLE. Watching interviews, P DIDDY’s name was constantly brought up when he claims she “is saving rnb” which is fair. I believe Bryson Tiller and Kehlani are both the prince and princess.  Comparison to sell out The Weeknd and Kings Brown and Bieber.  Kehlani is definitely board lining the pop and RnB music genre but why be put in a box time to make your own.

It feels more like a sophomore album, primarily because of YSBH just dominated in ’16. 2016 was a great year for Hip Hop and RnB. It felt like albums were being dropped left right and centre. From Beyoncé’s Lemonade to Frank Ocean’s Blonde co – in siding with rappers Travis Scott, Schoolboy Q, Kid Cudi and ASAP Mob also dropping albums. That is just off the top of my head also forgetting RiRi, Drake and Justin Bieber. They definitely deserve a mention.

However, I really do feel Kehlani get through to her fans, followers, friends and past relationships. Whether it is intimate or just platonic. She has definitely given us a lot about herself but also not entirely letting us know everything. Some songs she seems vulnerable then straight away goes all bipolar and turns so cold. It’s really funny and interesting but it’s a whirl wind of emotions and situations that everyone can relate to. I guess it how you take it, just like I am sharing my thoughts on the album myself. YSBH seem to me like a girl rebuilding from the ground up after hitting rock bottom. SweetSexySavage is a whole new woman confident and fierce. This is definitely become a trend in recent female artists. Not only within the music industry but throughout the world also. Is it a revolution ?

If you’ve watched Jurassic Park and you remember this scene this is what comes to mind

Irrelevant I’ve gone off topic but its needed.
